David started racing Moto-Cross in 1995 at the age of 5, and has been racing competitively every year since, he has progressed well through the junior classes to senior level, racing in Club, Regional, National and International events.

David is extremely focused with determination to succeed at the highest level, making the change in 2008 from motocross to road racing brought a seamless progression. In 2009 David participated in SA National 600cc Super Sport series taking a year to learn the tracks while getting the feel for national circuit racing, during this time David qualified as a Personal Trainer focusing on his fitness. In 2010 he finished 4th overall in the SA National 600cc Super Sport championship and also winning the Western Province Regional Super Sport and overall Superbike championships. David was awarded Western Province Colours for achievements in regional and national motorcycle racing.

In 2011 as a privateer he amazed the local motorsport community by winning the first 4 rounds of the SA National 600cc Super Sport series and securing the Championship Title against a full works Honda team. This achievement was made possible by a strong will to win and a very strong mental approach to his craft.

2012 saw David move up to the Superbike Championship where he became the first rookie to win a Superbike race in South Africa. David also secured a wild card in the SBK Superstock 1000 championship and took on the Challenge of racing in both the South African Superbike champion with his RacePrep Team and in selected FIM Superstock 1000 Cup events, David took the top step of the podium in the first 3 National races and went on to win 7 races in between competing in the FIM Superstock 1000 cup.

2013 saw David move to Europe for the season to focus on his international career, racing for EAB Ten Kate Junior Team, BWG Kawasaki, Garnier BMW in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup, PTR Honda in the FIM Supersport Class and DG Sport Yamaha in the Le-Mans 24 Hour. David was awarded National Springbok Colours for achievements in international motorcycle racing.

In 2014 David signed for MRS Kawasaki competing in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup, finishing all 7 races in the top 10 with one 3rd place podium and finishing in 5th place the championship.
