Round 3 would be a return to Imola, the track where David crashed out in 2013 on the BMW.
Friday Practice: Free practice 1 started off good with David up in 10th early on but unfortunately after the mid- way pit stop no further improvements to lap times were found, ending the session 14th on a 54.9 and 3.3 seconds off P1. Free practice 2 just never came together for David who was struggling with traction issues and dropped down to 26th place on the timing sheets.
Saturday Practice & Qualifying: Free practise 3 showed that the overnight work to sort out the traction issues were working with David improving on his lap time to post a 53.5 and slot back into 14th place 2.6 seconds of the lead- ers lap time. Once again a big effort was required in qualifying to get as close to the front runners as possible. Improv- ing on earlier lap times to break into the 52`s with a 52.9 was a huge effort by McFlash and it was only rewarded with P16 on the grid.
Sunday Race Day: A short 10 minute warm up session on race day was used to get a good feel of the bike and see if the grip level on the traction control was sorted.
Starting from row 6 in P16 was never in the script but seems to be a déjà vu experience, a lightning start saw McFlash make up 4 places in the first lap and worked hard to pick the riders off one by one to get into 10th place, finding pace each lap to comfortably run in the top 10, McFlash worked his way up to 7th with 2 laps to go, but could not close in on the dice for 5th, David was happy to finish in 7th position and bag more valuable points for the championship.
David: I have to stay a big thank you to my team MRS Kawasaki for their effort and hard work this weekend, it was challenging and they pulled through with a good bike when it counted. Staying in the top 10 for the first 3 races sees us lying 8th in the championship, we still have some work to do to get up to the front runners, every race we are learning something new, the next 2 races are at tracks that I enjoy so that should help. I`m looking forward to a month at home to catch up on a little bit of R&R and a lot of moto-cross.
